Tips for elevator maintenance

Elevator maintenance refers to the regular inspection, oiling, dust removal and adjustment of the working safety devices of the elevator components. It includes non-destructive testing and lubrication maintenance of the elevator traction steel wire rope.

Matters need attention

 1. The elevator consists of two main parts: mechanical and electrical. If the elevator is not maintained regularly, its safety cannot be guaranteed. If the elevator needs to be refueled but is not, it will cause wear and damage to the mechanical components, significantly shortening the service life of the elevator and making it unable to function properly.

2. During the use of elevators, some users reduce costs and save money by hiring temporary workers or unqualified companies for maintenance. Once safety issues arise, it becomes impossible to trace responsibility. If the maintenance is carried out by elevator manufacturers or qualified professional companies, on one hand, the technology and quality of maintenance are guaranteed, and on the other hand, there will be someone responsible if problems occur.

 Mechanical part

1.The traction machine of the elevator requires lubrication with oil. There are two markings on the outer cover of the traction machine. Open the oil valve to check that the oil should be between these two marks. If the oil level is below the lower mark, it indicates that the traction machine needs to be refilled. Failing to do so can result in poor lubrication during prolonged operation, leading to the burning out of the traction and motor. After a long period of operation, the oil should be replaced promptly to ensure the traction machine remains well-lubricated.

2. Cleaning and lubrication of elevator car guide shoes. As we all know, the guide shoes run on the guide rail, and there are oil cups on the guide shoes. In order to make the elevator run without friction sound, it is necessary to regularly add oil to the oil cups and clean the guide shoes, and the hygiene of the elevator car should be cleaned.

3. Maintenance of elevator lobby doors and car doors. Most elevator malfunctions occur on the lobby doors and car doors, so it is important to pay attention to their maintenance. First, lubricate the areas that need it on the door frames to ensure good lubrication, which prevents unpleasant noises during operation and door opening. Pay attention to checking the safety touch panels or photoelectric touch panel switches in the elevator, as the high frequency of door opening and closing can damage these components. This requires maintenance personnel to inspect them before each work session, replacing any that need it in advance, to avoid customers questioning the quality of the elevator due to door issues.

Electrical components

Electrical components are roughly divided into control panels and electrical switches for various safety circuits. They are the brain of the elevator, the central nervous system that controls its start-up, operation, and door opening and closing. Therefore, in daily maintenance work, it must be treated as the top priority. It is best not to short-circuit the elevator circuits inside the control panel. When the elevator door system malfunctions, some people, for convenience, short-circuit the doors to locate the fault, which is very dangerous. Accidents caused by short-circuiting doors are the most common. Why? If someone opens the lobby door and sticks their head inside, and the elevator happens to be moving up or down at that moment, the lobby door will not stop, leading to an accident. Therefore, in our daily maintenance work, we must never short-circuit the safety circuits. If a short-circuit is necessary, we need to identify which safety component has failed and which specific component needs to be short-circuited, and then perform maintenance or emergency repairs.

Safety monitoring

1. Computer room environment

2. Control cabinet

3. Main power switch

4. Sheave

5. Limiter

6. Shaft and pit

7. Guide rail

8. Door and elevator

9. The heavy plate should be reliably fixed to prevent loosening.

10. The speed limiter tensioning device and the steel belt tensioning device shall be equipped with safety switches.

11. The compensation chain and rope shall not collide with the shaft or other parts during the operation of the elevator.

12. Electrical safety section.
